Skoda has revealed the Slavia, albeit still camouflaged, the Slavia is the second model from the India 2.0 plan of the manufacturer and built on the Volkswagen group’s MQB A0-IN underpinnings. Made in India  like its sister car, the Kushaq  in an effort to give it a more affordable price tag, the Slavia is fundamentally larger, more spacious, and is likely to be substantially better equipped than the Rapid, a car it will eventually replace. The name "Slavia" means glory in Czech and was the brand name used from 1895 to 1925 on cycles and motorcycles sold by the company. While the Slavia nameplate will be used in India first, what’s interesting is that it is also likely to be carried over into other markets. The Slavia is 4,541 mm long, 1,752 mm wide, and has a height of 1,487 mm; the wheelbase measures 2,651 mm. The Slavia is larger than even the first-gen Octavia, although it isn't as long as the Honda City. It, however, will be the widest car in its class and will come built on the longest wheelbase, so expect plenty of space and comfort on the inside.Unfortunately, we can’t tell you more about the exterior... it looks pretty orange right now. The same goes with the interior, however, what we can tell you is that the Slavia is powered by the same set of engines and gearboxes as those on the Kushaq. This, immediately, makes the Slavia the most powerful car in its class. The 1.5 TSI or direct injection turbocharged engine puts out a stonking 150hp and 250 Nm of torque. The car will also be offered with an entry-level 1.0-litre TSI engine that develops 115hp from its three cylinders. Both engines transfer their power to the front wheels. The 1.5-liter engine is offered with active cylinder technology (ACT). The ACT automatically shuts down two cylinders when the engine load is low, enhancing fuel efficiency. The Slavia comes with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard. A six-speed automatic transmission is optional for the 1.0-liter TSI while the 1.5-liter TSI can also be paired with a seven-speed DSG.The Skoda Slavia will get up to six airbags and numerous assistance systems. The new mid-size premium sedan comes with up to six airbags – for the driver and front passenger, as well as optional front side airbags and head curtain airbags. Skoda says the Slavia will take on entrenched competition like the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, and the Suzuki Ciaz.
